Shirley Cason-Reed is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia.  She is the youngest of twelve children born to the late George and Sarah Cason. She is married to Reverend Dr. Rodger Hall Reed, Sr., the mother of six and grandmother of eleven.
 
Mrs. Reed is an honor graduate of Madison University. In 2010, she received an honorary doctorate degree from AME University (Monrovia, Liberia), under the recommendation of its president and faculty. Though she has been employed most recently with Prince County Public Schools and has served in many other various capacities, her calling in life is that of a Missionary. 
 
Mrs. Reed is the author of a Missionary Handbook entitles, "Missions in Action". She has served the Women’s Missionary of the A. M. E. Church for over 34 years; serving as Connectional Recording Secretary, Connectional Chair of Membership & Recruitment, Connectional Chair of Special Missions and President of local societies. She currently serves as First Vice President of the Washington Conference WMS and is a member of the Tullie Quinn Missionary Society of Ward AME Church in Washington, DC.  In 2003 Mrs. Reed was awarded Life Member Status.  April 2008 under the hand of Bishop Adam Jefferson Richardson Mrs. Reed was licensed as a Missionary of the Washington Annual Conference.
 
Mrs. Reed is the recipient of many Awards and Citations for her outstanding leadership and service to humankind. She also serves as the Second Episcopal District Commissioner of the Debutantes and Master Program.
 
Mrs. Reed travels throughout the U. S.A, and Africa recruiting, teaching and serving as a consultant for retreats and seminars and is a candidate to serve the Connectional Woman’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church as its eighth elected President in 2011.
